Killed this greenhead Monday on chick along with 3 more mallards and 2 black ducks. It has no color or bar on its wings, no white ring around its neck and no brown on its chest.

There are lots of ducks on Chickamauga that are local born and bred.... you see them all summer. They don't migrate and they hybridize with various domestic ducks that live on the lake and end up with a wide variety of shapes and colors.

We have always called them "boat dock ducks," although they do maintain somewhat "wild" behavior patterns.

When hunting our philosophy has always been, "If they fly, they die." emoBigsmile

That's half cracker duck and half wild duck. We killed one a few years ago that had all the markings of a drake mallard, but the head was black instead of green.

I thought it looked more like half grey duck half mallard, and it was killed miles and miles from any boat dock, so who knows, lol

That's my pet duck, Quackers. I'm not mad, he needed to go anyway. He hunched every dog, cat and small child in the neighborhood and I was tired of apologizing for his actions.

Wonder bread duck.. I like shootin the big white ducks they decoy pretty easy and their mostly bread and cracker fed kinda takes that gamey taste out...

Looks like a Mallard/Gadwall hybrid to me. Pretty cool. The head almost looks too big for the body.

Congrats, hopefully I'll be able to get a bag like that on saturday!
