Had a slow day yesterday but not terrible. Met up with 8 Ball at CFP at daylight. Headed out in the rain and tried to get a deep bite on the rig starting off the morning but that did not work so we worked our way back into a creek fishing shallow with traps and chatterbait. We were confused with the water temp being 61 that we couldnt even get a sniff so 8 ball picks up a jig and tosses to a laydown and immediately sets the hook on a good one. First fish in the boat at 4.3 lbs. Kept moving back into the pocket and im still throwing the chatterbait determined to catch one on it. Tossed it to a stump and as soon as i pulled it over the stump one hammers it. Second fish and our best of the day in the boat at 5.5 lbs. Continued in that area for another 30 mins picking up 2 more with another keeper at 2.5 lbs on chatterbait. Decided to move and check out a few other spots. Ran back into chester frost to the stump field in the back only to find 100 more boats had the same idea. Never got a bite there. Moved to a riprap bank just off of a ditchline to give the rig one more try. We were determined to catch one on it but never happened. Had a couple hit and misses but never hooked up. Eventually ended up back at our first spot catching 2 more with another little buck 2.5 lber with both coming off a kvd 1.5. Ended the day with only 6 fish but 2 good ones. Couldnt get that 5th keeper so only ended with 4 for a total of 14-15 lbs. Had a bunch of fish that seemed to be slapping the bait and also saw quite a few cruising shallow. Water temps ranged from 61 in the morning to 70 around 4:00
