My brother-in-law Andy and I just got back from fishing a river near Cleveland, Ohio. Fishing was a little tough today, we really had to work for them. I think we hooked probably around 25 fish and brought about 15 into the bank. Hope you enjoy the pictures. Andy caught a beautiful chrome female that just came in the river. I had a dogfight with a big male to close the day. It first took about 50 yds of drag upriver on me. I got him back into the bank, and then he decided to take me down river. I probably ended up chasing him 100 yds before I finally got him onto the bank. It was like a spin fishing "A River Runs Through it."

What a great day of winter fishing!

Man I gotta ask, how heavy of fishing line were you guys useing? Some cool looking pic's, glad you guys had a good day Happy New Year!!!!

Hey guys,

Glad you are enjoying the pics. It's always fun to go on trips and to do different types of fishing. There is just so much on "my fishing to do list." We were using 6 lb line, so you really have to be careful in how tight your drag is set. I am still kind of new to Steelhead, but everyone up there uses tiny hooks and light line as I guess they are kind of finicky if you use too heavy of line or a large hook. We caught everything on egg sacs, they would not touch a fly. My buddy takes me out and he's been fishing the rivers for steelhead since he was 7.

This type of fishing is completely different and a really fun change of pace from anything I have ever done. Fishing with a 11 ft rod and hooking a 10 lb steelhead with 6 lb line, does not get any more fun than that. It's also really neat to catch them at the different times they have been in the river. Some of them are a bright chrome color and others are dark as can be based on when they come into the river.

In March I plan on doing both steelhead and walleye in Michigan and Ohio. So look for some reports then. In between I'm hoping to do some catfishing around the Chattanooga area.
