At first I thought my oil bath hubs were pretty cool but after a couple years I have one that leaks water into the hub, not enough to visibly raise the oil level, just enough to discolor it. I've been told you can't just drain them and pack them with grease for some reason. Is there something easier than swapping axles?(tandem axles w/brakes) emoBang

I would try to find the manufacturer name on the hubs or caps. I've seen these leak from the factory, mostly overfilled from the start. But if your getting water in you must have a seal leaking. Contact the manufacturer if you go back with the oil bath because this is a special greas/oil and special way to fill so as you dont overfill. But first you need replace the leaking seals. I do not see why you should have to replace the axles unless they are damaged.

You have a PM Dragfish. I'll post more on this topic tomorrow but do a search here at CFF. I put up a ton of info on trailer hubs about a year or so ago.
