I had an opportunity to fish with my uncle on Old Hickory today. We were fishing before daylight and he caught a few slicks on a frog, I got one on a big worm. Once daylight broke we moved to a wind blown pocket where he caught 3 keepers on a SB and I caught one on a t-rig. We caught fish all day, Including a 13.5" smallie, a few spots and several largemouth. We ended up flipping/ pitching for quite some time we both caught several shorts, and both got our line broke! Probably had 12-14 fish all day, with 4 good keepers. We caught fish at various depths and structure types. It seems like there are fish everywhere, and there are baitfish everywhere. Its a very neat fishery! The lower end of the main lake was 83 degrees, We ran up river where the water was 73 in the channel! I enjoyed fishing with my uncle who carried us around in a new Skeeter 21ft (ZX series) w/ a Yammie 250hp. Thats a post of its own, but all I can say is you Ranger owners need to check these boats out!

Not only is that a neat fishery, it is a great one. I grew up on that lake and fished it everyday until I went to college and had to get a job. I cannot tell you how many big stringers I have had in that lake. I love it and miss bieng able to fish as much. The pressure is getting tough on it though. Did you see any grass at all or have they tried to kill it again?

There is plenty of grass if thats what you are looking for. It was really matted around the steam plant! And many of the creeks had it pretty good.
