old junk yards

The EPA and city officals cracked down pretty hard on Junk yards in the 90's. There is one on GA 193 just south of the TN state line. I'm not sure if it's still open or not.

The one on 193 just outside St. Elmo is Chattanooga Valley Used Parts.  There is one in Fort Oglethorpe called Bohannan Used Parts.

Fann's in manchester will have just about anything, they don't keep old stuff, mostly new wrecks, call em to find out what they have. This is a huge junk yard. Take the Tullahoma/AEDC exit, go right to the old 41 hwy, turn left and it is on the left.

"...you never see them like you used to"

In part because LadyBird Johnson in the 60's made 'Highway Beautification" her pet project. Bill Board Placement along interstate highways was more regulated and "eyesores" like junkyards were made to cover up with either solid fences or chain link fences with strips woven through the links. Most junk yards that have been established in recent years have made a point to be inconspicuous so they are less likely to become "eyesore complaints" and less obvious to the EPA.

"Junk Yards" have gone upscale. Look for "Used Auto Parts" listings in the phone book.

If you need something specific list it here. Anyone who can will help you.
