Well 4 of us hit the woods Saturday, including Jmax who came for the day Saturday. Deer movement was slow and I heard fewer gunshots than ever. Finally around 8:00 a spike chased a pack of does my way. After seeing that there were no mature bucks in the bunch, I decided to take a healthy doe, and the .25-06 didn't disappoint! I had a shotty rest on my first shot and shot over the does back(I guess) at about 80 yards, the deer acted like they never heard it and moved my way for a better shot and at 65 yards the 100 grain barnes went completely through her. Saturday evening I put Jmax in my "honey hole". I was the only one who saw anything-1 doe. Sunday I slept in and took a mid morning hike with my buddy Jarrod. We were above the "honey hole" walking a logging road when I saw the doe coming. I put Jarrod in front of me and told him to wait. the doe walked up to within 20 yards and Jarrod made a perfect neck shot on his first deer- a big ole doe! It was awsome to hear him get nervous and be able to experience his first kill with him. We have taken 5 does from the farm so far-which is what we need! The rut seems to be just barely comming on but there is no buck sign!! Either way i had a great time and would like to thank Jmax for showing me how to quarter a deer out " South Arkansas Swamp Water Style"!emoLaugh
