Opinions on 2000 model Evenrude 225's

Are they dependable motors or prone to pop (blow up) easly?

I have the 200 Fitch 2000 model and mine has been nothing but problems from day one. I do not trust them. Jmax

Beetlespin and Jmax are 100% correct. They should be called SHICT. That is what I call mine anyway

I can say that i have had a 2001 225 for over 3 years and only had 1 problem. The computer went out this past summer, it gets great gas milage and is real strong. It may go pow tommorow but i don't have anything bad to say so far, just my .02 worth.

Honestly, I'm not sure I'd be any more (or less) scared of this engine than any other color engine that's 10+ years old. If you're really interested, find someone that knows those engines and have it checked out. It's going to be a roll of the dice no matter what engine that's on it. JMHO.
