After several PM and phone calls this weekend, I feel prompt to post and ask for a few opinions on something.

First off, CFF is a laid back , friendly place with several tournaments being organized here. Theres quite a few of us that know what a good time it is before, during and after. BUT...theres been some concern about the "qualification" to fish a TX. Right now its set that someone has to have atleast 2 post to fish it. Thats ok but it also seems that a few people have just blasted in, made 2 real quick post and then never "re-contribute" to the site. They will however show up and fish. I've never really had a problem with this rule but it seems like more are starting too.

IN YOUR humble opinion, should a person have at least posted something during the month we hold one? Not 3-12 months ago..LOL. Or maybe be contributing in other ways?

I'm throwing this out there to you guys because it been thrown at me SEVERAL times by active members and seems to be a concern. (not to mention, legit)

I want to see this thread stay cool and humble. No blasting of others ect... We may be able to work things out or let it ride the way it is.

you gotta pay if you want to play. The friendly competition and fellowship is what these tournies are for. There are hundreds of other tournies, and if you can't abide by the rules, then go fish one of the many dogfights that are happening at any given time. Tournies should be for contributing members only..........$.02

fischnrod - 6/17/2007 8:46 AM IN MY OPINION you can take the fun out of it with too many rules. I like the simple dogfight type rules. (You asked) emoCool

Yea..I did ask. I like it simple too. Just fish one of my Dogfights.

Bring 20 dollors too.

I don't fish tournaments because I'm just a "laid back" angler, and I work with a semi-pro who makes it sound cutthroat. I'm guessing the people you are talking about aren't in it for the camaraderie, but just to win.

Maybe if you make the tournaments even more of a get together, where you have to bring something for the after tournament meal, etc., etc, so people have to participate? Maybe they already do this.

I feel your pain, as I don't catch a lot of fish, and the tournament type folks around here are pretty tight lipped about how, where & when to catch fish.

My best times have been in Chattanooga, both for the fun and for the fish.

Good luck with this!

There are tons of just,"Fishing Txs" around here. If someone wants to fish in that way there are plenty more that they can choose from and they do not havd to fish ours. I would prefer to keep it simple but to have it so a person can fish if they have a minimum of two fishing reports on record at the time of the Tx. Now if they follow the rules they have to post their trip of the Tx so that makes three reports and if they start fishing ours then everytime we have one they have another report. If someone posts two reports and never posts another one in a year then the reports they posted may be gone by the time they get around to go on one of ours so they had better make sure they posted at least two in the last year. I think the way it is now is fine and we just need to make sure everyone knows the rules. Our forum has been founded on sharing information and fellowship. If we change that we may become just another Tx. Also keep in mind that if someone wants to put on a regular Tx without the CFF rules just post it here, let everyone know and do not call it a CFF Tx.emoThumbsup Let's not over complicate what we have. If you want to put on a CFF Tx as a director you have that right but follow the rules that Dhaun has laid out for us and we will be fine.emoBigsmile Jmax

Bbass the rules are fairly simple... Post twice and then POST about the tourny. Thats not asking too much. I don't get to go alot anymore and having two fishing posts are hard to come by right now.
icon_lol.gif
But the majority of the folks on here realize this is a laid back tourny crew and the money is not what its about.

There are so many "MONEY" tournaments that it ain't even funny anymore. There is tournaments at Grasshopper and at Harrison Bay, Chester Frost and Dayton and everywhere up and down the lake. Just about any night you want to fish. There are tournies during the week at Parksville lake. There are tournies at Watts Bar and on Nickajack lake all week long.

I have been watching and trying to keep up with the posts lately and it has become somewhat of a hassle to try to keep up. I would like to think that folks would obey the rules and not much be said about it. This board was created to GIVE fishing reports and to pass on info to others so they may learn and help them in their quest for fish.

I think thats simple enough. Good job on the tournies and keeping it fair.

Lots of folks don't have the oppertunity to go just anytime they want and it helps them to be able to have a place to come to and pick up a few pointers about whats going on. David has a great thing going here and it needs to stay that way. Just my pennies worth and some change!

Here we go againemoDoh How about at least one participant must have a "regular" ranking,50 or more posts.Even if you're not on here everyday that's still pretty easy to get and shows that you have/do contribute. Also you must be confirmed BEFORE the day/night of the tournament with the online sign-up list not @ the ramp the day of."expert" members are to be exempt from these rules and can show up and do whatever they likeemoTongue

I have no dog in this hunt... as you know it's a rare, rare day when you'll see me at a bass tournament. But I am never short on opinions, regardless of the subject. emoBigsmile

That said, you can have all the rules you want, but the bottomline... who is going to enforce it, and how? If BBass does a tourney and has one set of rules, but somebody else hosts another one and uses another set of rules, it gets kind of confusing. With 1,500-plus registered users there's no way you'll ever get a true consensus.

It sounds to me like it could get way too complicated... and some might even say "nitpicky."

I say simply spread your arms in love emoGrouphug and accept all comers, recognizing that some won't ever contribute, but others will become great CFF contributors simply because we are such a darn friendly group!

Right on Richard. I wanted SO BAD to allow Treeman and the other guys to fish!

2 post aren't that hard to do...we've seen that by several that made them a year ago..LOL..But I hate hearing people get upset or concerned about it all.

Maybe the thing to do is have 1/2 the money go towards conservation programs here on our lakes and see how many are in it for the money.

.LOL. I'll be there for sure! Now my dogfights are another thing. I like making donations there

Good thoughts and ideas guys.

Rich...I feel ya man, but I think there are a bunch of those around here already. I do not want to turn this into just another curcuit. I had all but stopped fishing Txs and was talked back into doing them becuase of the guys on here.emoAngel If we just start letting anyone fish them at any time with no rules there is no difference from us then all the others around here.emoScratch Jmax

I think this forum is for people to gather a ton of information from other people and then all share it.There should be a post minimum and as rough as it may be you may have to turn people away that morning. There are a ton of dogfights ,cba's,tenn/coosas.Make CFF tournaments what the were ment to be ,a light hearted competition for people to "BARE ALL" and help each other grow as fisherman.

I, like Richard, have no dog in this hunt. There are so many dogfights and other TX's around that fish for money that anyone who wants to fish for money could and should fish those.

This is just me, but I wish that the CFF tournaments revolved around the fellowship, sharing of info and generally having a good time with other CFF'ers. Awarding points instead of money would eliminate the guys who just want to come "take" our money without posting an honest report. A $5 entry fee could be used for other CFF functions (picnic, etc) or given to a charity or other worthy cause. Let's put the fun back into competitive fishing. I would even fish this type of TX, even though I don't bass fish anymore. I would do it just for this kind of TX. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

I agree with Mr. Simms keep it as simple as possible. I have posted a few notes over the last year. I do not keep track of dates and times. I keep busy but read the CFF as much as possible. If you want me to post more in order to fish the CFF tournaments I will be glad too.;) ;)

Wasnt it Ranger Rob who brought up a point idea about a year ago or so?

Never the less, DK, I like that idea! We could track the points and spend alittle at the end of the year with plaques for all kinds of things...Most consistant, point champ, little fish, best big fish, director of the year (hehe) on so on. We or I could even do nice certificates to hand out at the tournaments!!! Lower the entry fee, split half to go towards CFF events, and the above or just plain ol' lower it to 5 bucks a person or something. I kindda like the thought of this. Makes gasin those boats easier too! Leaves it simple, sends people fishing for cash only to the cash only Tx, which theres nothing wrong with that and opens OUR community here at CFF for some great times sharing, talking, and bragging.

After my weekend headache..LOL..no harm done, I'm glad I posted this! Great Ideas Guys!!!!

I do think a point system and honors either yearly or quartly would be a great idea. Would rather compete for bragging rights than the money.
