I posted last week about shearing the pulley bolts on my 200 Optimax compressor.
A lot of responses were that it was a common problem with the bolts ( thanks for the feedback) not my luck though!
I'm kinda mechanically inclined (drag in Dragfish comes from drag racing) The Merc is out of warranty and the new compressor is around $700 or more.
So I decided to rip into it and see what this thing was made of. I found a set of bearings on what would be the crankshaft were bad. I found replacements at Chatt. bearing and had to have my buddies at Trenton Tire press them off and the new ones back on. The whole thing was like fixing an old lawn mower motor.
New bearings, pulley bolts and labor-about $55. Ran it up in the driveway this evening on the water hose- seemed fine.
The true test will be at CFF tx sat. If you see Fishin' Junkie and me with the cowl off my ProCraft stop by and show us your fish-AIN"T SKEERED! emoEek
