I have an '05 Merc Opti 175. I have changed the spark plugs in 5 of the 6 cylinders. I was wondering if any of you know any tricks for getting that bottom plug on the Starboard side. I can get a socket on the plug but the joint in the wobble head socket is bent at such an angle, you cant turn the socket.

Changing plugs in an Optimax is real fun!!! emoBang

I have no clue what a crows foot wrench is. But if I had one I could try. ???? trust me, I'm no mechanic.

Put the crowfoot wrench on the plug and use ratchet & extension to turn it

I have never replaced plugs in a optimax, but you may have to take the lower cowling off, or at least loosen it. If the cowling is causing the sharp angle. Just my thoughts...

Removing the lower pan is an option. Here is an image a user on another forum provided that shows his "kit" for removing and replacing Opti plugs. Haven't tackled that job yet, but can tell it's not quite as easy as it was on a 200 EFI. LOL!!
