Any time in nov,dec or jan. Like Cheeze said when the new models come out. The 07 will be going at some good deals.

make sure when you buy merc has the 5 year warranty. it goes back and forth a few times a year from 3yrs to 5yrs.

I believe you will want an XS since you are putting it on an Allison and need the sportmaster lower unit. The XS motors only have a two year warranty and I haven't seen Mercury offer the extended warranty on them. I don't think any of the manufacturers assign year models on their motors anymore. If a dealer has had a motor since January of 07 and you buy it this January it will be an 08 model. Have you sold your motor? The XS engines are great but they are heavier than your motor and harder to work on.

I just bought a new G3 2 weeks ago. Yamaha is running a promotion right now and are offering an additional 3 years warrenty. My 150 Vmax has a 6 year warrenty. Just a thought in case you want to go Yamaha.

You are correct about the Pro XS. My pro XS I just traded in was great and it had a five year warranty but Fishnrod has an Allison and he needs the sportmaster lower unit and solid motor mounts which only come on the XS engines. A second option would be a Yamaha VMAX hpdi as they actually have a pretty good lower unit as well. The Mercury torquemaster on the pro xs can blow out at high speed and you don't want that on an Allison.

No i haven't sold my motor yet, i may keep it if i can't get a reasonable price for it on trade or sell it straight out. I think the pro xs would work for me , i run the short cone gearcase on the mariner.

On 2nd thought,after pricing a new motor i am probably going to keep mine unless someone offers me enough to justify selling it.emoBigsmile
