When is the best time of year to buy a new outboard? emoConfused
No i haven't sold my motor yet, i may keep it if i can't get a reasonable price for it on trade or sell it straight out. I think the pro xs would work for me , i run the short cone gearcase on the mariner.beetlespin - 1/28/2008 7:17 AM
Fishnrod,
I believe you will want an XS since you are putting it on an Allison and need the sportmaster lower unit. The XS motors only have a two year warranty and I haven't seen Mercury offer the extended warranty on them. I don't think any of the manufacturers assign year models on their motors anymore. If a dealer has had a motor since January of 07 and you buy it this January it will be an 08 model. Have you sold your motor? The XS engines are great but they are heavier than your motor and harder to work on.
