Yesterday afternoon I put the boat in, it cranked fine, and run fine up to the dam. At the end of the first float I easily cranked the motor, but when I started toward the dam it seemed to "bog down". In other words, at full throttle it wasn't running near as strong as it did at first. It wouldn't even bring the bow down. Even during the run back to the boat ramp it wouldn't open up.

The only thing out of the ordinary that I noticed was that at one point the teeth that are between the throttle and the motor slipped cogs a couple of times.

Any ideas?

Something wrapped oround your prop shaft or from what you discribe your throttle cable has slipped and will not push the carb linkage to WOT.

Pull your cowl off, Slowly engauge your throttle with engine "OFF". Push it to full forward. Then go back to your engine and see if the linkage is to the stops. You may need some one to hepl by moving the throttle so you can see which lever direction and stop that controls WOT. Do not change your linkage on your engine, however you may see the problem where the cable enters the engine and is secured to the linkage.

You may have fouled a plug. When I took my boat out for the first time this year the same thing happened to me. Dont buy plugs from a dealer, Oreilly auto carries marine plugs and are about a couple dollars cheeper for each plug. ;)

I checked the prop, then changed the plugs and took her out again. Cranked fine, ran like a top for the first run. When I cranked a little bit later she started bogging down again. Could it be that my oil/gas mixture is off?

What you said in your original post about the cogs slipping, you should check that out good if you havnt already. Sounds like maybe its loose and jumping the cog, not getting W.O.T.
