ok so we get the boat ready this season engine runs, and everything.so we put some muffs on it to run it for a little while.First of all it doesnt pee and we had it on for like a min?then i shut if off, note overheat light is not on or screaming at me,Its off right now.I go to turn they key on then the thing beeps and lights up.it didnt do this when the motor was running?so i clean the peehole out on the motor and let it cool down, Then start it for about 10 to 15 secs nothing. Now i had the muffs on but the water was coming out EVERYWHERE on them, this is my first time using them and i dont think it was right, they also didnt have like a seal or anything around the water intake on the lower unit, they werent hard to pull off or anything.they had little open spots on some places where they werent fitting 100 percent.Hopefully im thinking they werent on right or it could be the impeller but i need some input here Plz.The motor is a 98 yamaha 150 prov

Im not sure on a Yamaha but I know on my Evinrude muffs don't work on it. It has a place where a hose screws into it. That may be your problem have you tried putting it in the water and see if it pees?

I used to do the same thing and nearly always end up putting on a new water pump impeller. If you are going to do it I suggest a bit of duct tape to seal the edges so as to get better water pressure. THe older the muffs get the worse this gets. Nowdays I just go ahead and take it to the boat ramp so I can submerge the gearcase. No sense risking the impeller.

well my dad knows a guy that does outboard work to the side, went ahead and ordered a new impeller from yamaha online wholesale.so its all good. Thanks for the info guys!
