Saturday morning, Catmaster made the mistake of challenging the "old man" to a father/son mini bass tx. We had the coin toss at the ramp and Catmaster won the rights to the front of the boat and picked the location for the first two hours. (That's the only thing he won). Catmaster took me to a shallow slough close to Harrison Bay road, which we have fished for years. It was already a little breezy so I was quite happy to sit on the back and not fight the trolling motor. I began to catch fish right off the bat on a 6 inch red shad zoom worm texas rigged on a spinning outfit. I had 4keepers in the boat by 9am..... Catmaster none. We left that spot and went up the lake and fished a residential slough in ware branch. There were already two tx boats back there, and one boat kept hop scotching back and forth across the slough. It was ok because they were throwing spinnerbaits, and weren't catching anything. I caught one more to fill my limit, and switched to a 9 inch worm try to get a kicker bite. I was able to cull one of my 15 inch fish, but the kicker never happened. Catmaster began to catch fish, but it was too little too late. He managed 4 quality keepers, and several shorts. We called it at 11 am. Final score: Me 12lbs..... Catmaster made a strong comeback with a little over 9lbs.... but not enough to catch the old man. All fish were caught in super shallow water on Texas rigged worms. We caught a total of 19 with 11 of them being keepers size. Below is a pic of the LOSER with his best two fish.
