Hey anybody caught some paddlefish under the Chickamauga dam or seen someone catch one. Been heading to loudon dam to catch them and was wondering if there was any below chick dam? Thanks!
I've seen one surface a few years ago but I haven't seen or heard of anyone catching any (maybe once). I'm sure they are there though. They are just hard to catch since their diet is so different. I think the only way is to snag them but that's so hard to do it's usually done by accident.
They are filter feeders and are usually only caught when they are accidentally snagged. I've seen some both above and below the damn but that seems to be very rare. I've seen 2 below the damn and a dead one in the lake but that's been over a 20 year span of fishing
FYI, Snagging fish (on purpose) below the dam is a prohibited act.
They stack up at the Nuke this time of year, but you will wear your self out snagging there.
