I like to eat bream but can't always catch nice ones. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to prepare this little guys where I can get the most out of them with the least trouble cleaning them?

No... preparing bluegill for the table means work. They are tasty... but the cost/benefit ratio is high!

Thanks rsimms. When I don't need any fish everyone and their brother wants to give me some. But when I go out to catch dinner and strike out , I couldn't buy fish?

The easy way to clean them is to gut them cut off their heads on a line at the edge of the back meat to just behind the pectoral fins on their breast. Cut off their fins and tail with heavy scissors. Then scrape off all the scales. Ready to prepare for cooking.

The best way to really enjoy Bluegills is to fillet them just as you would Crappie. It is a little tedious but well worth the effort.

If you own a boat, I'd suggest one of these:

I've owned one and they really work.
Just cut the heads off, throw the fish in the basket and pull it behind your boat.(it'll scale the fish and de-gut them).
