I fished parksville again yesterday and I must say I'm in love with that place! Not because of the fishing but because It's such a beautiful place to fish.We started out about 1:00 and fished till dusk and only caught 3 small spots.I did the same thing as I did last trip with the same finness worm on the same points but they just were not buying it this time!Water temp was 71-73 degrees and clear as gin.I switched my line to 10lb fluorocarbon from 12 lb basspro clear blue before I left thinking that I would have better results but It didn't seem to help. The fish were just not actively feeding. We saw lots of 10 to 12 inch fish but they just didn't want to eat anything.I did catch my first fish on a drop shot rig with a 3 in. sluggo which was pretty cool!I also got to see more of the bottom on a graph than I did last time too,98 ft deep in one spot I crossed! All in all it was a really fun trip in spite of the low catch rate although we did hear that they were biting brown and orange hair jigs pretty good during the day and black and blue during the night ,only I don't carry and hair jigs with me! Until my next trip up there!By the way that place really is loade with spots!aside from the ones we saw on the bottom I had dozens follow my rapala back to the boat but just wouldn't hit it.

You and RangerRob need to keep up the Parksville threads so I'll have an idea what's going on up there. My father-in-law probably won't drive down to Wolftever when the Hiwassee refuge closes so I'll need a back-up location.

Have you tried Zoom finesse worms in the icecicle pattern on the drop-shot?

Now that the schooling has started up on the Chick, I'm not to sure how much I'll be up there ... except maybe to camp. Nah ... I'll get up there some more. I'm with ranman though ... that place is absolutely beautiful. Freebird is still going up there some and I can't remember his 'hot' drop-shot color up there, but I've had good success with most anything in a lighter color. The water is so clear you really don't need the blks, blues, reds, etc. If I knew for sure I could have an all day drizzle or clouds, I'd go up there with nothing but topwater in mind...

I used a purple with black flake last time I was up there texas rigged and caught a couple but I don't have any icecicle.I don't know how much I'm going to be going up there after that last trip cost me a half tank of gas in my big old gas guzzlin ford!I love the lake, but B&B is just 15 min. from my house and with gas prices the way they are I don't know if I can afford to many trips up there.Maybe after I win the lottery this weekend I'll buy the national forest land and move up there!

After looking at the route on a map, Parksville Lake actually appears to be a longer drive from Cleveland than Wolftever. The only drawback to fishing the Hiwassee after Nov 1 will be finding a place to park at B&B...not to mention a place to fish. I'm sure Grasshopper will be the same.

You would really be surprised at how many people stop fishing during the winter months.I've never had a problem with parking at either place. The ramp at B&B in the winter on the other hand is a problem, that thing sucks to begin with and gets even worse when the water is low!You are right about wolftever being closer but it is usually busier most of the year too.I guess it really depends on what kind of trip you are looking for.
