I fished Parksville last weekend for the first time and got skunked. Only had a few hits early and nothing until we gave up at noon. Came home determined to figure out what I was doing wrong.

Started out at 7am in pouring rain from King's Slough. Decided to wait it out under a tarp that I brought. Rain stopped at 9 and started fishing topwater. Fish were chasing bait but I only got close enough to one and no hook up. Fished some bluffs and found several large groups around 20ft and pulled a unweighted white Zoom Trick worm through them a couple times with no hits. Moved to the back of the cove and started looking for bream with a popper on my fly rod. I had a 14.5" spot just hammer the bug on the surface at about 11am. emoParty Had another rain shower come through and chased many fish. I was in super stealth mode and let the wind blow me as much as possible. Saw several nice fish and many small spots in the 8-10" range. Just couldn't talk any into eating. Had a few hits but no more hook ups. Finally gave up at 4pm. Only saw one other fisherman and he wasn't having much luck either. Maybe the front last night shut them down? Maybe just lack of experienceemoRedface Still I enjoyed being out and throwng some hooks around.

Jason,

No I didn't.....I haven't found the Spotsticker jig heads yet. R....Rob said I may need to order them directly. I was fishing with no weight like Kevin was last week. Didn't work as well for me. However, I did read something this week that suggested that sometimes fish are spooked by lures that sink too fast. I thought the secret was in the no weight. I also don't know how the action is done with SS heads. Maybe you can elaborate?

Also, on the colors.....I knew I should have written those down before I went shopping;) I was looking for white Finesse and Baitfish Finesse worms. That was all I could remember. I did remember pumpkin but I didn't know they had 10 shades of pumpkinemoRolleyes I checked all the stores (WalMart, Legends, SWharehouse, Fish Tales) and finally decided that Finesse don't come in plain white. Ended up getting Zoom Trick in white. They are just a tad bigger and I was going to pinch off some if I was getting hits and no hook ups. Maybe that may have been a problem. Does size matter ???? emoTongue

Thanks for the suggestions, Barry
