The overcast skies finally got the best of me and I headed out a little earlier than expected. I was kinda holding out for Tr19 to return from deer hunting and then we'd head out. By lunch time I hadn't heard from him, so I grabbed Tellico and we headed for the lake. I launched at 2 from King's and there were only two other empty trailers in the lot. I headed to the back of a creek where I know there would be some flow from the rain and a little color to the water. Water temp was 71.

About 10 casts into the afternoon, I tossed one of Tr19's shallow cranks under the corner of a floating dock and it got slammed just as it passed underneath. The LM was healthy, but short. I then continued with a BB and spook as the water shallowed in the back of the creek with no takers. At about three, the bottom dropped out and it began to pour. Poor Tellico fit as much of herself under the console as she could, but she was getting soaked. The TW bite wasn't happening so I headed back out to the area where I caught the first and quickly boated three more off of a flat that was near the dock. One more LM and two spots. The LM was maybe 14.5" and went 2lbs even on the digital hand-helds. I was keeping the boat in 8-9 feet and all of the hits were coming around 5-6 feet. I stayed in the creek for quite a while trying to target other flats with no more takers. The rain, however, continued in force.

The rain finally let up just a smidge and I ran back to the far end of the lake and hit some more skinny water with the same crank. I boated one more spot and had another come unbuttoned at the boat. At six I put it on the trailer.

I was noticing quite a few fish on the Garmin that were holding on ledges in 14-25 feet of water and there was some baitfish activity in the shallows, so apparently the bass aren't quite ready to move up yet. Despite the rain, P'ville was beautiful yesterday. Once the rain settled in, fog hid the tops of the mountains and settled closer and closer to the water. There were two other boats besides us that were fishing and one pontoon boat, but other than that, it was a quiet lake.

So TR19's baits really work huh??? Kidding as I am quite excited about getting mine....

Well hookworm .. I don't know how they work .. but if they work like they look the fish are in T Rouble!

Tr19 kindly made me my favorite crank bait ... into one of his specialties. I sent him a picture of the TN Shad Bandit and got back one of the most beautiful baits I have ever seen.

So beautiful I'm afraid to fish with it because if I lost it .. I would be heartbroken. I took some great pictures but can't get them off the camera to post. I'll work on that though. Ranger Rob is a liar ... he said TR's baits are good .. I'm here to say they are exquisite!!!

Ha! Yeah ... good - no, awesome - stuff Wormhook. You'll like what you get. Tr19 is an excellent craftsman and his baits are good to go. I, for one, appreciate the quality of handmade baits and these are up there with the best. Besides, if I said differently, Tr19 lives close enough to come toilet paper my yard in the middle of the night! emoBigsmile

Good deal. I really like custom stuff, and I try to support the smaller places, fellows. Im gonna have to buy a bigger boat though if I keep this up.
