Made my first trip to parksville lake and had a blast !It took a couple of hours to really key in on a pattern but once we did we caught a ton of fish.We caught them on 6 inch.smoke and purple finess worms texas rigged with 1/8oz weights.
None of the fish were very big (10in. to 12in.)all spotted bass, but boy those were the prettiest most hard fighting bass I've caught in a long time! We fished the lower part of the lake near the dam and just about all of the fish came off of primary pionts with a few coming from the back of the coves.shade seemed to be the the best place to find them untill the sun started to sink then we found a bit more surface action with spittin images and sammies.I would love to spend some time up there and learn the lake better and perfect my drop shotting as this would be a perfect place for it with it's ultra clear water and depth.Does anyone know what the major forage is on that lake?We had a couple of fish puke some very tiny minnows out as we let them go but I couldn't tell what they were.Great day on a great little lake!

Thx for the post ranman. It sounds like a "typical" P-ville day. You're right, those little spots are beautiful in that lake and they ALL have Napoleon complex thinking that they are five times as big as they are.

That lake is still a mystery to most of us. With its gin-clear water and no maps to tell us what's down there, it's darn tough. Gorgeous place though, huh? It sounds like some of us need to start really comparing notes (though I'm yet to hear of anyone - yourself included - that's really doing anything different)! Fairy wands and lite line finesse tactics... But really, it would be good if we could get a little more going up there between us. The fall bite on the Chick is really getting amped up, so I don't know how much I'll be going to P-ville for a while, but if you want to meet up one evening/Sunday and hit it, just let me know.

It looks like a pretty lake. I have driven by it and eaten in the restaurant there but haven't ever fished it. I had heard that there are smallies in it. I don't know how big the population is however.

Yep - there's smallies too. The last day I fished up there I had one that probably would have gone 4lbs take a swipe at my floating worm. But you wouldn't believe the spots. Their color is so vivid ... they really are pretty ... and M-E-A-N. I take my sea kayak up there for overnighters quite a bit and take along an ultralight and roostertails. Recently I caught about a 15 in spot on 4lb test and a 4'6" ultralight. Man, was that fun!

Are there an restricitons on that lake on boat size or engine? That is below Benton/Cleveland right? I have heard about it but never been there. I also heard that they had great smallmouth fihsing down there.

none that I know of.My cousin( who I was with Sunday)fishes it alot,He was telling me that a guy in a tournament with him this year caught 3 smallies over 4 pounds within mins. of each other plus two more largemouths to win it . Man talk about a great day on the water! From what he has told me about the lake prespawn and spawn is the best time to catch largemouths up there,He does alot of spinnerbait fishing during that period.I guess they move to the really deep water after that.I plan on going up there alot more in the future and using my electronics to look around for some deep fish.I hate being on the back of the boat most of the time!Ranger that sounds good I will def. take you up on that sometime!
