Hey gang. A buddy and I hit Parksville (Ocoee Lake) Saturday. We launched at 6:45am and fished until 1pm. We fished spooks and buzzbaits until the sun got too high and then went deep with Spotstickers and drop-shots. Only one keeper spot to speak of. I did have a good size smallie take a swipe at a floating worm and bit it in half. Water temp was 77 and visibility was about 3-4 feet.

We normally fish the Chick and since we live in Cleve, we're trying to learn more about Parksville. I take my sea kayak there all the time and even camp out there a lot, but learning to fish it has proven difficult The deep clear water is really intimidating and we would much rather be pitching jigs on heavy braid, but those Spots are F-U-N!

Any advice is appreciated. Now that they are beginning to school on the Chick, I'll be migrating back that way, but I'm eager to learn more about Parksville.

Welcome to the board, RangerRob. I've only been to Parksville twice, which was enough for me, and caught a few on Yum crawbugs and Manns Dragin drop-shot worms. Waaaaaaaay to clear for my taste.

Thanks Jason. I found out about the sight a week or so ago and figured I'd join the fun.

I feel like I'm probably setting myself up for a lot of frustration trying to figure that lake out - ultra clear water, no maps, etc, etc - but it has my curiosity, and like I said, some beautiful, hard fighting Spots. It also doesn't have near the pleasure boaters that the Chick does . . . or fishing presure. What I do know is that there are a handful of folks out there who DO know how to pull fish out of that lake. You hear rumors, you know. Two that I've heard are 100 fish days and an 11lb LM coming out of that lake. Urban myth? Maybe. It's definately a challenge, and while I love to power fish, I'm not opposed to picking up the fairy wands and light line either. In fact, I'm having to do more and more of that on the Chick too if I don't want to be skunked sometimes.

I have a cousin that fishes there alot and does pretty well with spinnerbaits during the pre-spawn fishing the laydowns.Another thing he does is pitch senkos around the boat dock when the fish suspend.I have heard the best fishing is in greasy creek but I hear it's very dangerous to get in and out of.
