Hey - just wanted to let everyone know that the Parksville Marina is closed for the season. We found this out the hard way as we drove in from the Nashville area for a weekend of family fun and a day on the water...we don't have a boat and rented one last year from the Marina. Well, we pulled up and found a sign on the door - closed for the season! We ended up driving to the Hiwassee where we found a friendly Marina to rent a boat and had a nice day on the water...fishing was not all that great, but we did boat 3 bass, none keeper size. All in all, it was a great trip though as I spent a great weekend with my Dad, brothers and my two sons.

Thanks!
Dave

Yes - you are correct, it is the Ocoee Inn and Marina...hindsight is 20/20, but we went last year 2 weeks later in the season so assumed it wouldn't be an issue. I had a fleeting thought to call and set everything up and now wish that I had...at any rate, still had a great trip and a nice time on the Hiwassee...

Parksville Lake.......... Marina.......... only one there........ Hence, Parksville Marina. Close enough  for me.

David, sorry to hear that it was already closed. Thats a bummer,

but still glad you got to have a trip to the Hiwassee river. Maybe it will be better for the next trip. I think they closed early this year because of the low water flow for rafting. The drought has affected everything here.

Thanks guys...yes, had a nice time on the Hiwassee and still really enjoyed our trip to Parksville. We stay at the Welcome Valley Village Cabins: http://www.welcomevalleyvillage.com
Anyone looking for a nice trip to "get away", I highly recommend that place. All cabins are within 50 yards of the Ocoee...about a mile or two downstream from Dam 1 The fishing on the river is challenging, but can be rewarding too. We saw many keeper size bass that hold under logs when the level is down. We couldn't get them to bite, but it was fun trying!

Look for some "middle tennesse reports" soon. I like to fish the Stones River here in Murfreesboro, so I'll try to let you know what's working in this neck of the woods. Also, looking to make a trip to the Duck river at Normandy Dam soon - the smallies and trout bite (stockers) can be unbelievable this time of year.
