Got out with Mark S. again today from the Jr. Bass club. We put in $10 worth of gas and didn't get the 3 gallons I wanted.

But it lasted us.

Only 6 boats, and blasted off at 6PM (weigh in at 10PM).

Moved down the lake to fish main lake coves with the ZOOM TOAD. Missed a few at first, then finally pulled the first keeper into the boat around 6:30. Just went from cove to cove, picked up 2 more keeper spots. Missed at least 10 more, as they'd come up and miss the bait. Mark had a decent largemouth (what we were going for) that got him hung right under the boat on a tree. He was still on the hook but got away as he stuck his hand down to get it. That was BUMMER of the night!! It happens...

Moved on to Indian Creek to see if the spots were schooling on the shad... Started throwing the toad in a pocket and noticed a school of pretty nice spots coming up and they would just all try to get the toad at the same time, but not one of them would get the whole thing so I could set the hook!

These fish are craaaaaazy! Anyways, Mark got the first and last largemouth of the night in the boat off a fluke, then he got a spot in the boat after that. We had a full limit by 7:30, but nothing really good. Moved over to the next cove off the creek, hoping for a largemouth, I threw the toad. Landed another keeper spot, but wasn't going to the livewell because of it's SKIIINYNESS. Then Mark, still throwing the Fluke, landed the big spot of the night. Only 1.5lbs. Worked our way back to the pocket where they were on the shad, hoping to get on a good one. But they didn't come up for the rest of the evening as it was getting dark.
Moved on to another main lake cove, landed me another spot on the toad. Then it was just too dark to throw topwater, so the toad retired for the night at 9PM.

Then we hit the marina, I fished the empty slots with a shakeyhead, landed a keeper spot in about 25 foot of water, but it was to skinny to beat one of the fish out of the livewell. That was it for the night. Headed back to the ramp.

Winning weight was 10.5lbs, then we placed 2nd with 5.5lbs. Correct me if I'm wrong about the weights, Mark. No one else weighed in. They only paid out 1st place due to the small amount of boats that fished.
