I can't say if I agree with you or not Yellbert.Someone will surly take offense to whatever I say.Sorry for being so wishy-washy.I'm just trying to fit into today's society

Of coarse we said the N word, it was the norm growing up in the south in the 50/60's. And I still say it about the little "gang bangers". BIG DEAL. And yes the blacks use the term often. But whoa.....if a white person admits to it....it is suddenly the worst thing in the world. I am sick and tired of the POLITICAL CORRECT ....bull-s***! And dang....hang me....what was it we called the GAY folks way back when?

Funny how when "they" use it, the word is okay. If it's such a bad word should anyone use it? But of course the thug that robbed Deen was probably a choir boy and had never used that word to describe himself or his thug buddies. I can't say that if I were robbed by some of these "urban young men of color" that this would be the WORST word I'd use for them. I can think of lots more and they all apply. To me, words fit the person. If you act a certain bad(crime, not working, not respecting other people, ect...) way in your life and someone uses a word to define you, then it's probably unfortunate for you, but fair. I wonder what words the thugs use to describe white people, hispanics, and others? I just wish the folks that were so offended would be just as offended when a rapper or a black celebrity uses the same words. I am sick of being politically correct too. We have a major problem in this country with racism, but I don't think white people are the major source. Ironic huh?

yellburt, what I can't figure out is this. If we all want equality, regardless of race, religion or sexual preferences or whatever. Why doesn't the media, the news networks, and public accept it and act they way? For instance, why is it that so many of my Black friends openly greet each other with the "N" word and no one says anything about it!? Why is it that most of the Black celebrities, comics, and rapper music entertainers openly and blatantly use the "N" word over and over and over and no one raises an eyebrow? So now, if we all want equality, why can't I or anyone else use the term if I so desire? Do Black people have a copy right or something on the term? I don't know? I don't understand why Cello Green's performance down at Riverbend that was so questionable. If I had pulled down my pants and mooned the crowd or I did that anywhere else in public, I would have been arrested!? If I had been popping Tequila shots and was obliviously intoxicated, I would have been arrested! If I had been repeatedly dropping the "F" bomb out in any public area, once again, I think that I would have been arrested! I just think that we all need to rethink this equality thing. If you can do or say something, why can't everyone else? I'm a proud southern fried country raised beer drinking, pinto bean, corn bread and potato eating redneck hearthen! I'm a Baptist raised {now Church of God minus the snakes} Christian, white male believer and if you can't make jokes or take shots at that, may God help you develop a sense of humor! I don't care if your a fish eating Catholic, a grass eating Seven Day Adventist, a hiding out at the bar beer drinking Baptist, a covert secret liquor store patron Methodist, a Holier than though Church of Christ or a snake handling Church of God member, a Demoncrat or Republicrat. I don't care if your Black, White, Red, {I'm legally an American Indian so I can say also } Yellow striped, paisley or madras plaid skinned! My experience from football, boxing, wrestling and several other sports was that all of the afore mentioned had red blood! If it's ok for you and yours to do or say something, then why isn't it EQUALLY good and acceptable for me? I'm not defending Paula Dean necessarily, I'm just questioning the "Equality" subject of the issue. I also agree with the comments by Bill Cosby and Professor Walter Williams of George Mason University on the same type subject . JMO! Now everyone can go ahead and blast me! That's ok, I have very thick shin!

There is no answer or reasoning with this particular group of poeple. They are nothing but hipocritical, racist folks that are locked and loaded, ready to fire at anyone because of their own stupidity!
They are a disgace to their own race and the should really listen to what ML King and Bill Cosby have to say!
How many other races had a 66% increase of first time voters for president because of his color?
Damn me to Hell if need be-but I'm still going to call a dumb-ass white man "A stupid trailer trash redneck" and a hateful "In your face-as offensive as I can be" discredit to the Black race a #%@@^& and refuse to apologetically use the phrase-N-word!
Any decent, respectable person has my admiration and respect!

I have never in my life ever met a single person who after hearing any single slang term has been totally life altering devastated. It is just a word that came about as most Southern slang originated. The Actual Name of the Race is Negroid. Not a color, shade of a Nationality. I recall Mountain Folk pronouncing the word Negro as " Nagros" ... It is clear where the forbidden word came about.

I can not seem to remember when it came about that once Proud Race became ashamed of their own Roots. Why seek to be something else other than your Heritage? When this resentment came about and this proud Race became ashamed, is that when any true description became an insult.. Think about all the Terms to describe The Negroid that have came and gone... As you know until further notice, the Race is now confused with a name of a Nation where most have never been.

If I am Not correct, then please explain why the Race has been changed repeatedly in our life-time... BTW My Race is Not a color/shade... It has a proper name that was altered to show to be the Opposite comparison to another color/shade.race... Who was the Einstein who came up with that Racist Thinking?

I think next year I will require everyone to refer to my race as Boca- Slobvanian

It's a freaking word........how someone can be so hurt by a group of letters is beyond me.

The problem I have with this whole mess is that when Jamie fox was promoting his movie DJa go and said, "I get to go around killing white people" some folks thought that was cool! Seemingly, no one but the far right wingnutz like me thought it was wrong or even seemed to notice. Damn him! "The Kingdom" was one of may fav movies, but I'll never watch another movie he is in ever agin.

I agree with you Flipper. Had the words been reversed, there would have been an outcry from blacks until the movie was removed.

What too many people do not know is that mountain men / trappers back as far as the 1700's used the "N" word.... on each other and it wasn't a derogatory remark and acceptable to be called one. So the un educated race has no clue what it stands for. They just think it's demeaning for whites to say it or call them that!

They are not really offended. If they were, they would not use the term anywhere, or anyway. It's just playing political games to get more from society. At what point do they get a totally free ride?

emoScratch I thought they had a free ride already. Free utilities on housing, free money every month, free cell phones and now the president of their chosing. Some folks make the projects sound so bad but if you notice they have no meters on them at all. I used to work next door to the Emma Wheeler homes on Wilson road and 80% of the cars in there were nicer than what I have and maybe will ever have! Whatever floats your boat I guess. emoRolleyes

Spnplgr is correct, it is a political game and a shame that today's liberal, sick society is not only allowing it but promoting it. Paula Dean is being publically crucified by the media for using a word which most of us southern bred & raised and over 50 have used in our youth or more recent. I applaud Mrs. Dean for her honesty.

"We give no offense in anything, that our ministry may not be blamed" (2 Corinthians 6:3).

Gods words from Paul to us.
