Anyone tried the Pflueger Trion , I sacrificed a new rod and reel to the fishing gods up at ther nuke the other day and looking for a good replacement.. I always like the AG 6500c-3 but might give something elce a try if its worth the money,, plan on spending around $100, area on it, so im not looking at the high dollar baitcasters, want a multi-purpouse reel one that casts, and can haul "big" cats off the bottom as well..good strong drag,, What ya think?? emoScratch

i just got one a couple months ago. i dont know about the drag system though cuz i havent caught anything of size. I will say its a very smooth casting reel. I love it so far.

Puddle Jumper, Try a shimano corvalus they are pretty cheap on Ebay. I think you might could get 2 for your hundred bucks. They have super smooth drags and so far seem to be great reels.

I bought two of them, I put them on challenger rods, so far I haven't had any problems with them. I bought them at Big Daddy's on highway 72 in South Pittsburg, they have the best price on all the places I checked.

i havent heard anything but good remarks on the trion.
i can attest to the value of the 6500 though. im sure you know, but for the money, that reel will be horsing in fish long after other reels have bitten the dust

Thanks for the input guys, I know the 6500 are a little dated so I wanted to check to see if there was anything better out there before I get another reel. Any other advice is also welcome to something I have not thought about..
emoThanks

oh and the 6500's are not dated they are still fantastic you will be hard pressed to find another reel thats as solid the only problem I have is the drag isn't as smooth as some of the other reels. I will bring a corvalus with me to the meet and greet and let you play with it if you want.

Thanks Craig,
That would be great, also I cant find it right now ,might be "catfish conection", sell a drag upgraid kit for the AG reels that is suposed to help out the drag considerably new material and washers,, dont remember the spacifics but it sounded pritty good when i read it..

I have a couple I have been using for about two years - really like them. Smooth, good for pitching, drag system works well. I have one on a St.Croix rod I use 12 pound PLine Flurocarbon for jig head worms and have the drag set light so I don't break it on hookset. Have landed some decent bass up to about six pounds on it.
