When are the sauger gonna start biting below the pickwick?

I've heard they are beginning to catch some good numbers of keepers below the dam. I'll probably be below the dam on sunday, but i want a BROWN fish that won't hurt me if i decide to lip it!!!!!!!!!!! carl

if your looking for brown fish i would stay on the upper end below wilson fishing for me in the past has always been better with a lot of gates open turn the nose of boat upriver and go backwards. guy in the back gets first shot! grubs of all sizes work with anywhere from 1/8th-1/2oz. leadheads
never go looking for brwns without some of winders artic fox hair jigs either. jackson island pts are good, as well as the island in the middle of the back channel. stump city. buckisland also good always hit the rockrows in the main channel both sides, river side and inlet side.just my op of course.hope you have a great trip and get your string stretched several times

The few times that I fished below Wilson we had great success drifting Shiners. We caught lots of Smallmouths as well as every other species you can think of.

Things change fast. The other boat backed out and do not want to go that far with one boat. emoEnforce

I am going to explore below Nickajack Dam for smallmouth and sauger, but have never fished below that dam.
