I was able to get out for a couple hours after work and wanted to see if I could find a shallow bite with the cooler temps and seeing the water up a foot and dingy at the landing. I lost a small keeper on a swimjig first pocket I came to so decided to run with that pattern since I only had a couple hours to fish. I ran a few pond weed edges with no luck but stayed shallow and found a couple cypress trees of course holding more water than normal and started skipping holes between the branches. Still no bites. Moved on to the next set of trees and skipped the creature in there and my line started acting funny and of course I wasn't paying attention since I haven't had any action as of yet. I swung and missed and caught a glimpse of a fish pulling out from the tree and figured I had messed that bite up but skipped it back in there and got freight trained. She bulldogged me behind the tree but I was able to get her out then she jumped!! I thought I had my first Double Digit fish! Finally got her in the boat! It was a very surreal feeling catching one like that with no one else in the boat. Needless to say, I didn't have my scale so loaded her up and called a buddy that had his boat slipped in at the marina and was able to get her weighed in at 9.6 (new PB) and a couple pics from a random person on the docks and released her safely.

Dude nice! That sure looks like a 10+ to me. Either way congrats and a great story! Skipping cypress. Reminds me of my days flipping tidal water.

Thank you to everyone. Yeah I wish I woulda had my scales. I felt like it was all of 10 but it was still a fish of a lifetime!
