Does anyone run a point 1 antenna with xi5 trolling motor and does it make sense to do this?

Point 1 is a great investment if you run Lowrance units. It will keep your screen from spinning while you are sitting still. It's really a must have.

The Point 1 will not affect the xi5, it has its own GPS system. The point 1 will be the GPS sytem for Lowrance units for location, waypoints, etc. The advantage to a point-1 vs the internal antennaes already in the Lowrance unit is speed and accuracy; and it will control any "spinning" as stated above. It also allows your boat position to be pinpointed while addressing a waypoint, because you can see the location of the bow in relation to the waypoint when you are sitting still.

any help on why it would say invalid on the depth finders and doesn't let me choose it?

do you have to tell the unit to look for the external antenna and use that signal in the setting somehwere?
