Anyof you Mods know why there seems to be alot of PM messages not showing up in the INBOX. I had had at least 4 members tell me of getting an email copy, but when yo go into your inbox it is not there. I have had one myself as well. Anybody know whats up??

Dunno Spur. I don't have the option selected to get an email whenever I get a PM, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I haven't been notified of anything that would affect our PMs either.

Now that you mention it though ... my PM volume does seem down a little.

Maybe we have gremlins?! emoScratch

Same thing has happened to me lately. I just figured it was something like the person sending them just deleted their message before I got it.

I am guessing its from the change-over, and new programing issues???

If the sender deletes it from their outbox before you open it then that would cause this behavior. No programming changes have been made to my knowledge.

Spur, I guess the you will get them in person at the socalled sept. picnic. I was pm'd 2 times last week and the person finally called me and asked what was wrong. I don't guess anything is private anymore.

Spur, I have had some issues with my PMs as well. Sometimes there will a red, 1 or 2 on my front page, and I'll go to open and nothing new will be there. I'm not sure whats up with that. I don't get email notifications as you do so I can't comment on that.

I was replying to a PM last week and the page timed-out due to server issues. This might result in an email notification being sent....because an error was encountered the message was not fully delivered.

Next time this happens ask the member if any errors occurred when they sent the message. I also know if you have a bunch of messages in your inbox/sent folders it makes the processing a lot slower which my result in server timeouts and partial processing...I cleaned mine up last week and my inbox loads a lot faster now. Enabling the email notification feature should help ensure you get the message even if it fails somewhere later in the process.

I do the same thing. After about 10 pms , I delete my own. I too have had timed out issues. I bet its happened to me atleast 6-7 times since 5pm today.

Happens to me a lot. No kidding. I figure it's just because there is just a lot of activity on the site at that time.

I sent a PM tonight that timed out. I notice that sometimes if I've been in here for a while everything will slow way down until it times out or I get a server locating issue and reboot. I always just assumed it was this decrepid laptop, but it didn't really start until a couple of weeks ago.

In addition to user deletions from outbox and server time-outs, here is another probable cause:

A user error I have seen is that a member replies to the email notification sent from CFF rather than the actual PM in their inbox. Next time this happens be sure to ask them if they sent an actual PM from within the CFF inbox or did they reply to the automated email notification from CFF???

When a user erroneously replies to the automated email they are sending their message straight back to the CFF admin email address rather than the intended recipient. I typically get 2-3 of these a week by email and even got one tonight.

Members need to ensure they are sending actual PMs back to the recipient rather than an email reply back to CFF.

I've had alot of timeout issues lately. Tried to reply to 2 pm's and got dropped. A minute ago got timed out trying to reply to a post about stolen cat. converters. Gave up. I'm not an IT guy and don't want to be. Been using the same computor for the past year with no changes on my part. Never exp. timeouts before??
