My family has a farm in Monroe county. There has been a poaching problem for a long time. Tree stands getting stolen, and deer being shot from the road. I believe there are signs posting no tresspassing. Just wondering how to get in contact with authorities about it. Or if we should try to catch them ourselves.

I would call the local sheriff's office. They just may who the local poachers are. I would bet it would turn out someone with walking distance to your property. By all means make police reports for the thefts, criminal trespass and for shooting at your property. Build a case with multiple reports, then if someone gets caught, the judge can look at your legal history and help him in throwing the book at them. TWRA may have Robo deer available to set up on your property if you can show enough evidence that they stand a good shot at getting some hits.

Another option is the very best way to deal with the problem. Find you a couple ethical local hunters and give them exclusive rights to hunt your property. I promise you that they will be very happy to guard your property. I have had that honor several times on several places where no-one else ever got to hunt legally. Having people on your property on a regular basis keeps the unwanted away.

I live in monroe county i'll gladly guard the property. land around here to hunt is TOUGH to find. thats why i hunt in decatur.

Liveliner is exactly right with getting TWRA officers involved. They typically like to work these cases and stake out properties to catch these guys. Again Liveliner is right with a local is probrably at hand here with the thefts. If you have a trail camera to set up and get pictures of them that would greatly pad a case against them, make sure you camouflage the trail cam as your trying to catch a thief. Also, documenting all thefts and criminal activity will no doubt have a greater impact on the case should be able to get one started.

My 2 cents, Hope you catch them

Cheers

I'm gonna talk with my cousins. Its our families land. Been passed down for a long time.We all hunt it. I'm gonna talk to them, and hopefully get the law involved
