Guys, I keep coming back to ways to attract participation and keep the negative drama down. I hope we can find some way or ways to improve angler contribution (i.e. tactics, techniques) that is not tied to posting. The fishing report criteria of the past didn't fly and I have some question about the 300 post idea. I personally only have 140 post so unless I read Spurhunters book on post building (which is not happenin'), I will have to partner with someone with 160 post to be able to fish. This also makes it tough to pull in newbies. I totally understand the intent, I just ask that we think on that and see if there are other alternatives. Thanks, Al

Nothing is in stone yet and this is the time to pose questions like this so that we can iron out solutions.

I'll say this though ... I don't want it to be necessarily easy to fish these. In the past, all the drama came from folks who didn't give a rat's ass about the CFF. They'd make two bogus reports, come fish, and then we'd never hear from them again.

What are everyone's thoughts for requirements to fish? The "300 rule" for those that weren't here, is the idea of requiring a boat entered into a CFF event to have a minimum of 300 posts. One guy can 299 and one guy can have 1, but they would still meet the requirement. This was my idea ... ya'll chime in on your thoughts...

i like the thought of that idea Rob, but maybe not 300. there are some good guys out there on the CFF that just dont post every day. 200 would be a decent number. that shows some CFF commitment

but like Willie said, that would be tough to pull in newer members. granted, it sounds like it was newer members that caused trouble in the past, and I don't have a dog in that fight, so take my thoughts lightly. but you could always make it an "invitational" tourney that the mods could somehow make eligible to view if they meet certain qualifications. like the way this specialty forum is set up, you can only view it if you have XX number of posts or whatever. then if there was a certain group of folks that we didnt want to fish with us, maybe we could exclude them from those that could view the event. maybe not that exact scenario, but you get the picture.

again, just an idea, feel free to poop on it..... :emoticon:

Maybe a 200 post OR be on the forum for at least a month. That would keep the goobers that register monday and fish saturday simply because there isnt anything goin on that weekend.

What number of post would you think would constitute a "Member in good standing"? Maybe 100/ 150. If this were the case, then how about a requirement for at least one member in good standing in each boat, and that member be allowed to have a guest regardless of his/her forum affiliation, such as an out of town family member or friend. Whatcha think?

I think that is a good idea.Say if they signed up in may 2007 and made 3 posts I dont think that is a member in good standing.

The 300 post idea followed the same thought process. As long as there are 300 posts in that boat - whether combined or individual - it was legit. This gets new folks in w/o probs.

cool that works for me. but for like Willie, he wouldn't be allowed to bring anyone not in connection with CFF until he read the "Spur's Guide to an UnGodly Amount of Posting"......
