When you fish do you normally go in your own boat or fish from the bank? If you fish a tournament do you fish in your boat or ride with someone else?

 Thanks David

I'm not sure how to answer becuase I'm in the middle right now. Every fishing trip up to this point has been from the back, except for a few here and there, but I'm now 50% owner of an old Glassmate with an evinrude 55 that just needs the cobwebs knocked off and I'll be boating it...

So I'm both?

I'm a "banker" when it comes to fishing usually. That is until I found this site. Now I can usually find a ride most of the time. I'm still waiting on that dream to come true"the one where someone hands me a new Ranger".emoCool I guess I'll keep on dreamin!!emoRolleyes

I take the boat out when I can, at least twice per week. If I can't get the boat out the 3rd time, I'll hit the bank once or twice per week. I've spent plenty of time on a bank and in a boat over these many, many, many years.

I MUST fish a certain number of hours per week to relieve stress and get some exercise. Doctor's orders. No, really.

I try to keep my back seat full, but I also enjoy time on the water alone.

I usually fish in my own boat, but it's not a "Tournament" boat as such. The few tournaments I have fished have been in other peoples' boats. Out of three tournaments I've backseated I've won one (local), second in one (March of Dimes), and a goose egg on the other (CBA), but I just don't enjoy tournament fishing. On the day of that CBA back in the 80's there were four fish over 9 lbs. weighed that day and one was right beside me. That was a tournament when Chickamauga was in prime form.

Normally a boater, but I'm always up for going fishing with whoever invites. Feel just as comfortable in the back..

Non-boater :( I don't get a whole lot of time to fish, so when I get to go....it is sitting on the bank. If I owned a boat, it would be a little bit different.

There is guy who lives on my street who owns a javelin 377A with 150 johnson on it,and tha freakin boat hasn't moved in well over a year!!!emoBang I know Churly knows what I'm talkin about! I can't freakin stand it!! I understand if there is something keeping you from going, but if you can't use get it to someone who can use it! If had a boat,I promise I would be on that lake at least 3 days a week!! emoAngry If I even get to own a boat I will not take it for granted. Like some of the people do. Not saying anyone on here does, that neighbor just drives me nuts!!! Ok I've vented, and I'm done.

I've got a 15' Alumacraft Superhawk MV that I've had for a little over 10 years. I love it and even with it being only 15' and having only a 25hp Evinrude, I've taken it all over the SE, including 2 two week trips through the keys all the way to Key West, stopping and fishing off every one of the main islands. Gulf and Atlantic sides.

This year my tags expired and I'm having a hard time getting my numbers in order, as I lost my titles in a move. SC puts you through hell to get a duplicate. On top of the fact that I'm trying to transfer it to this state.

Long story short I'm boatless (which is killing me!) this year until I can get down to SC and get it all in order. Really sucks! I've still got plenty of cool places to wade in my waders, mainly for trout, which I love to catch, but not having my boat in order is like a piece of my life is gone.

I bought a 21' fishing barge pontoon boat last year and am trying to learn the fine art of crappie fishing. I have 4 grandsons and the pontoon offers them plenty of room for the occasional wayward cast. I live on Cagle Mountain so I fish Wood's Lake and Center Hill mostly but would love to learn more about Chick. or Nick. Bass fishing is fun but eating crappie, fried potatoes & onions, baked beans and slaw is better. I am a boat fisherman but would appreciate any pointers I could get. Thanks for this site and keep up the good work.

I reckon I would have to say that I'm probably 50% banker (non-boater) and 50% boater. If I ain't fishin' on the boat or don't have time, whatever, I am fishin' from the bank. But if I have the time and can get out on the ol' boat, then I go on the boat. That's a lil' tough question when ye think about it. However, there have been plenty of times I have gone out on the boat and could have done just as well "bankin' it." The only problem with bankin' it is that there are not a ton of places to get to when the water is completely up; or rather some good bank spots are just not available when the water is up. I would rather the water be up than down, though.
