I have been asked some questions about the Humminbird Side Imaging Images I post and intrepret. Side Imaging is not difficult to learn but it is new technology to many. The biggest thing is learning and understanding how the underwater world is displayed. I'm trying to help others learn and find the preferred method to make it easier for you when you get on the water to learn and quickly recognize what the data is displaying

Choices:

1) Do you like the current method of posting the image and allowing others to comment what they see in the image. And then I post the Answer (Normally in a Week). This allows you to use your thinking cap to learn what is in the images and become creative.

2) Post the Image and Answer at the same time. Then we can discsuss.

I really appreciate you taking the time to post these images-still trying to learn how to use my 998, but getting better thanks to you.

I voted for "Image" and "Answer" at the same time... but if I'm defeated by the majority (as I often am), please tell us when you're going to post the answer.

And yes, it is educational... especially for those of us still on the "side-imaging fence."

It wasnt one of your choices but I would like it if you posted the pic in the morning and then that evening the answer. Gives us time to think and then the answer comes a little later.

The puzzle is fun, but the learning is usually by the answer. Either is fine with me, but what is REALLY important is that you walk us through the answers with explanations of how to understand what we are seeing - shadow length or distance behind the object and how it defines the object, different fish we are looking at, shell beds, sunfish spawing areas, hard bottom/soft bottom differences, etc. The power of Humminbird SI is in the details, and we need to be able to understand them. Too much explanation is better than too little. Thanks for the help and keep up the great posts!! emoThumbsup

I agree with Eric-wish I had thought of that! I can usually see what it is when you give the answer, but never before that.

Leave the lessons as they are. But for goodness sake...Please keep them coming. I have a 998 and have a great deal to learn.

I don't think I will ever get the hang of this, but I am learning as you teach us what we are looking at..

Thanks Doug
