In response to this thread I thought I might post a poll per RSimms recommendation:

Tennessee is one of the few states where you do NOT have to have a "Title" for your boat... same as your car title.

According to a TWRA report done several years ago: Tennessee’s lack of a law requiring boats to be titled may contribute to the high number of boats reported stolen and may make it easier for stolen boats to be registered in Tennessee. For the period January 1 through July 13, 1999, Tennessee ranked tenth in the nation in the number of stolen boats, according to information from the National Insurance Crime Bureau.

The issue is gaining steam as the National Marine Manufacturing Association has expressed a wish to see the Tennessee Legislature pass a boat titling bill. The proposed bill would name the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency as the organization to administer the titling law—if the bill is passed. The subject will be discussed at the upcoming TWRC meeting.

Of course titling your boat will obviously mean more taxes or fees.

How do you feel about the issue? Would you be in favor of Boat Titles?
