Poll - Tournament Announcements on CFF

I have had a couple conversations & pms recently with members regarding the big increase in regional tournament announcements and trail promotions on CFF. Tournament announcements are certainly welcome on CFF. Its one of the primary reasons why I added the calendar capability to the site, however, these posts may be better off in their own area rather than in "General Fishing Discussion". Personally, I'm fine with it either way but thought I might ask contributing members (those who post reports on CFF) to respond with their opinions.

Should there be a dedicated area on CFF for all tournament announcements and trail promotions or should they continue to be mixed in with "General Fishing Discussion"?

One thing I thought might add...

Having a dedicated area helps to keep tournament announcements at the top of the thread list organized in their own area. Combined with the calendar this may help with participation. As we have seen in the past these posts will rapidly get lost in the archives if they stay in General Discussion due to all the post activity. This helps long-term visibility to a certain extent. It also helps to keep General Fishing Discussion an area of actual "Discussion" rather than a platform used for announcements and trail promotions.

Having a dedicated area may also have some drawbacks...posts in a dedicated area typically will not get the initial visibility as the General Fishing Discussion area since they will not be in the "top of the page" forum. Creating new areas on the forum also means I will have to do more work moving posts when anglers put them in the wrong place, however, in this case I think we have enough tournament related posts being added to CFF each week to warrant a dedicated area.

Again, I don't have a real preference either way. I'm not a big tournament angler and I'll most likely go with however members vote on this poll, unless I learn of some different pro/cons to sway my opinion.

It might just be a spring rush sort of thing, but I also believe that they need to be in a dedicated area. David brings up a great point in that they will get lost if they remain in the General Discussion area. This way, the tournaments that are happening on any given weekend will be up at the top of the dedicated forum page.

I say it's a go, David, for the dedicated area.

Looks like most of the votes are for going with a new area for these posts. I'll try to get it created soon and move some posts over to it.

The new Tournament area has been created and I have moved as many posts over as I could find related to tournaments.

Please post any and all tournament related announcements, questions, news, discussions, pairings, dates, ideas, etc... in the new area.
