Did you ever have one of those mornings when you felt that something was not going to go very well? I planned to meet Polo at about 8:15 at the Riverpark. I got there about 8:00 and started getting to boat ready to launch. Guess what, my cranking battery was dead as a door-nail. What was even worse, Polo & I had failed to exchange Cell numbers. So I had to wait for him to arrive before I could go get a new battery. So we had to make a quick trip to Interstate before we were able to start fishing.

I knew though that we were going to hit it off really well because Polo showed up carrying some of his stuff in a Walmart tackle sack. He also had a small cooler full of threadfin shad.

We went up to the Dam hoping to duplicate the success I had there last Wed. The Skipjack were there busting minnows all over the place, but no Bass! We tried jigs in 15 ft or deeper with little success. We tried threadfin shad which brought Polo a 2-3 lb blue.

Then, out of desperation, we hit the rip-rap!!! Actually, we fished rip-rap a couple of times during the morning. I'm really not sure how many fish we hooked up with all together but I would guess maybe 15 or so. Mostly small spots of course. I caught a 2lb 12oz SM on a bone colored Bandit And polo caught a keeper largemouth on a Bandit. We quit around 3:00.

It was really great to spend the day with Polo-Dog. And, he didn't get "skunked".

PoloDog, I love ya man... Wall-Mart sack and minners, you are the man...Sounds to me like you all done lots of fishing and not much catching. However, that is a nice picture of the smallie...How come you did not get your picture made for the post??? Glad you all had a good time... Fa say, "yea"emoGeezer

It was a great day to be on the river. We caught quite a few fish and the fellowship was great! MB is a better guide than FA puts on. I think that we missed the early bite because I had to take my son to school first and then we had to get the battery. All was not lost, we went to the Interstate battery shop and they gave MB a new battery as it was under warranty. It only took about 5 minutes at the shop. Great service and I have been happy with the batteries that I bought there. MB loves that rip rap and knows how to fish it! If any of you guys/gals gets a chance to fish with MB, take him up on it. You'll be sure to have a great time, and catch a bunch of fish too. We did have a second battery problem FA in that the camera battery went bad when I tried to take another pic of MB with his fish, so when I caught a good one there wasn't any juice left. Maybe the magnetic pull of the moon was off and so batteries were failing everywhere. What did the solunar tables say Drumking?

That comment was somewhat for your enjoyment rsimms.

Actually, the best movement was today between 10:45 and 2:10 pm. The calendar says that tomorrow is the new moon. On new moon and full moon phases, the best times to fish will be in the middle of the day or night, or anytime that the fish are biting.emoBigsmile emoBigsmile emoBigsmile emoGeezer

We got the SM about 2:30!! If you adjust for the angle of the dangle, That would be about right!!

Go ahead and say it, When. Fat Albert!emoUpsmile emoUpsmile emoUpsmile emoGeezer

Actually, FA netted both the 5lb'er & 3 1/2lb'er I caught last week. That 5lb 5oz bass was my best of the year.

My forte' is "catch & release". FA's forte' is "net & snap". It's because we both have so much practice at it!!
