Dr Phillip and I went to a pond this morning to catch a few bream and look what we ended up with. Actually, you will have to wait for TT to resize the photos for me to see them, but we caught, in addition to several bream, 6 largemouth. The largest 3 will be seen in photos shortly. They were above 3, above 4 and above 5 pounds. I forgot to take my digital scales this morning. They are all back in the pond and growing larger as we speak.emoAngel emoGeezer

once upon a time..... that's the way the story begins.... the only thing I have stalked was a rabbit in the snow. My mean ole daddy made me bark like a dog and run this rabbit like a beagle. and I was good at it, too. I brought that thing back by him and he did not even see or get a shot. I was 12 at the time and I told him that is the last rabbit I was going to play dog for. I ran my tongue out trying to be a good dog. and he was an excellent hunter.. but that's beside the point..... emoSmile

Just wondering how big that pond is drumking? It looks like a pretty nice one. The fish look super healthy also so it must be in pretty good balance. Most folks don't know that you need to harvest bluegill and crappie out of a pond ever so often to keep everything from being "stunted".

You know how it is with us geezers, Al. Sometimes I can remember and sometimes I can't. I have a birthday coming up on the 11th of this month. I'm gonna be 92 but I don't look a day over 84. Tee Hee. Actually, I'll be 64 in a few days. I'm 17 in my spirit and although the outward man is perishing, the inward man is renewed day by day.emoAngel emoGeezer emoTongue

What you see in the photos is just one arm of the pond. At its longest point, it is probably ~150 yards. It has about 4 arms like the one you see. The farmer wanted us to take out all the fish we caught except the large bass. We even turned the small bass back although I think that he wanted us to thin them out too. I just didn't have the heart to do that to the bass.

Just to know God and His Love and Forgiveness is to know life!!! Thanks drumking -- your comment about the inward man made me stop just a moment and thank God for Jesus!

Hey drumking you got the right idea, at your age take a ciropractor with you so if you have a back problem he can fix it right there.emoLaugh emoLaugh Your partner is my neighbor, I thought he looked familare but went blank on him until just now. You need to trade him a couple duck hunting trips for a couple fishing trips.emoThumbsup Good looking bass there fella.emoTongue Jmax

Hey Jmax, I already have him hooked on Striper fishing. He tickled me so much a few weeks ago when I took him below Watts Bar dam and right off he hooked a 16.6 pounder while I was battling a 2 pound white bass. He complained about the drag being loose as the fish was trying to go downriver to Dayton. I told him to hold on until I got rid of the white bass and I would check his drag. I checked it for him and it was just right. I told him just to enjoy the fight. It brought great joy to my heart just to see his face when we landed that fish. Then on the next trip he caught his largest to date, a 21.2 pound Striper and was really hooked then. His comment was, "I just thought I was hooked until I caught this 20 pounder".

I cleaned them for him and he grills the fillets. His entire family just loved grilled striper now.

I don't care for duck hunting, but I will get him to take me turkey hunting. I want to kill at least 1 in my lifetime, so maybe next year it will work out for the both of us.
