I've been fishing a pond here since January this year. Caught several stringers of keeper crappie early, and also some good bream. I've only caught a few bass and they were all slicks. Recently I've seen something pounding top water in the shallow end. Tried bass topwater baits but no takers. Then a couple of weeks ago I got there at daylight, rigged my ultra-light 4.5 foot spincaster (4lb. test) with a redworm under a floater, casted and set the pole down in front of me while I rigged up a crappie tube. Suddenly noticed my line moving so I picked the rod up and pulled...My line started screaming off!! I adjusted the drag and fought that fish for over 10 minutes. it was a 9 lb. channel cat. I decided to use a small live bluegill under a large floater and let it swim around the shallows. After 15 to 20 minutes I heard a big commotion, looked up and the floater was gone! Waited a few seconds and set the hook and the fight was on...Landed a 14 lb. flathead. Since then Ive caught 4 more cats ranging from 8 to 12 lbs on live gills. Tried to include photos from scanned pictures but having trouble.</p>
