Thanks for posting, was there any size to the crappie? From what I've heard it's hard to keep crappie from overpopulating in ponds. There just aren't enough checks on a crappie population in most ponds and so they reproduce too quickly. Was there stunting in the pond as far as you could tell?

Those do look like good fish. Were there many small ones in the pond too? When my dad and I were researching which species of fish to put in a pond that we were impounding, crappies were not suggested because of overpopulation problems with them. That was in the state of Illinois and the reccomendations in TN may be different.

Nice crappie there pondguy. I had a dog one time that was stunted. He would do back flips too.emoLaugh Good looking pond too. Are there any bass in it?

Skeeter, Crappie get stunted from smoking cigs. at an early age. Also get short fat fingers from popping their knuckles.emoLaugh

Skeeter stunted crappie are seldom over 6 or 7 inches long but their eyes are the size of 2-1/2 pounders. We call them goggle eyes and they look real skinny and poor. Years ago we put a bunch of crappie in my Dad's pond and everyone told us they would take over. It never happened and a few years later you could catch a mess of crappie most any time you wanted in the 1-1/2 to 2 pound range. Now when we put the crappie in there were already 5 and 6 pound bass as well as many other 1 to 3 pound bass present. I believe the predators kept the crappie population in check.

I had a few smaller ones chase my tube bait.As far as the bass go it's well populated.Many in the 1 to3lb range ,have caught 2 five lbs and one 7 lb.

Me to FA I believe that somewhere along the line I got stunted. It's not all my fault I really should be about 7 foot 9 inches or somethingemoLaugh emoLaugh
