i picked up my new flippn stick from j miles a couple of hours before RR picked up his new sticks and a have
to say his look sweet (almost as good as mine emoPoke ) color coded too!

well i couldnt stand it just sitting in the truck so i hit a pond not to far away from johns place with
a green pumkin seed jig with a craw trailer to match. did some pitchn and flipn to get used to the new rod
and rick clunn reel from bps. then tried some longer casts just to see what it would do and hooked up
with a chunky 4.5 pounder !!! emoDance .. a couple of smaller fish later i figured the rod was broke in
pretty well emoBigsmile ! fished for 45 min with 1 nice and 2 decent LM nope not a bad way to break
in a new rod at all emoSmile

That sounds like a fantastic way to break in a new rod. I haven't heard of Jmiles rods until the last few threads about them. Is he a local rod builder? What brand of blanks, components does he usually use? Just curious.

Definitely a great way to break in the new J Miles rod, m17. Unfortunately, when I got out on Sunday with Freebird, my first catch on one of my new rods was a 14" SHAD! I made up for it later though. Thank goodness ... I was really hoping that by catching a shad on my new stick wasn't going to be an all-day gooch.

polo-dog - J Miles is in Cleveland and he's been building custom rods in this area for a long, long time. He uses Shikari blanks and a variety of components, but they're all top-notch and he'll set them up any way you want. I truely LOVE all 9 that I just got from him. Anyone interested should get in line ... he had 103 more to build after mine.

Congrats again, m17 ... gotta love those big 'ol pond bass.
