So, Saturday me and a buddy fished a little Tx. It was pretty tough at first b/c we never got a bite before dark. We bounced around on some grass and some places where there was cooler water and just couldn't find that groove. So as the night set in the fish started to bite. My buddy was getting them on a Spinnerbait and I was throwing a 10in worm. About 930 we got our first keeper out of some grass. We then went to a big fish spot and caught a handful there but no keepers. As we were leaving, I pulled that worm over some grass and felt that "tick" and the fight was on! I yelled giant, giant, giant! My buddy grabbed his $100 dollar net and went to extend it. All I heard was Splash!!! The top of the net flew into the water he couldn't believe it. By this time I have this giant right at the motor and its jumping. He Yells just flip it and I'm like I can't its too big!! I had just upgraded my line and hook the night before so I thought I had to flip it at that point. Well I tried and off she went!

The fish was between 8-10lbs but not sure. It bent out the stoutest hook I've ever used. We couldn't ever get past that fish and ended up not weighing in. So the next night my buddy went back to the same spot at the same time and sent me the picture of a 9lber he caught on the same cast! Pretty awesome spot for sure.

So last night me and another buddy went out and tried the same plan. We had a great night! First fish I caught off some rocks in about 10ft and it weighed 4lbs. We covered a lot of water before we finally found a couple good areas and pretty much whacked them. It was my buddy's first time night fishing and we had close to 40 bass before we called it a night. Love wearing that sweatshirt and not having to sweat b/c it is just plain hot right now!

Yeah buddy! Jerry you better watch that heat!! Switch to night fishing for a couple weeks until it cools down a bit....it's worth it!

Hate to hear you lost the big one but it sounds like y'all found a good bite anyhow. I do, however, find a couple things curious about this story. The first thing, a $100 net. My goodness, I'm in the wrong business. Second thing, you tried to boat flip an 8-10 lb bass???? That's why God gave us 2 thumbs ! Hahaha

Eric... I read your post several times and it appears you failed to mention where this magic spot is? Must have just been an oversight on your part....

Congrats on catchn'm.

Now Greg, you know I can't give away to much info haha, but I did get a little revenge tonight. Caught this big eyed 7lber that was the skinniest 7lber I've ever seen. This girl was over 24 inches long and her belly was an inch wide. Had some other good fish tonight too. Always good to catch them when its tough out there!

I saw a couple weighed in like that at Guntersville Saturday. Looked like giants until he pulled them out of the bag. Strangely skinny.

Yeah this time of year near the end of summer I have caught some really long beat up fish that look like they haven't eaten in a while. Maybe because they are following shad schools all the time and it takes more out of them. Unlike pre spawn when they can sit together on one spot and gorge on shad that seems to stay in the same areas.
