Spurhunter brought up a great point to me.

I have created my Gmail account strictly for CFF and family, but have noticed a lot of spam already. The point he made was that "Search Robots" scour internet sites looking for email addresses. If it becomes standard operating procedure for folks to post email address like as: ***[email protected]***

This will allow for folks to copy the core email address and eliminate the asteriks so your box isn't attached with spam.

Thanks a lot Spur for the tip!

Good point. Some of the smart bots can still pic out your address this way too. To really disguise your email try typing it out, the reciever will have to use a little intellegence though lol. Like this: BPforJC at gmail dot com This way there are no "." or "com" for the bots to key off of or anything that remotely looks like an email address.

I little nerdy but it works.

What do you think of this idea, it's even easier to type out. Everyone knows hotmail, yahoo and most other emails end in .com

So leave out the @ and the .com - use slashes to seperate the information like this: myemail/hotmail (just leave off the .com - nothing for bots to search this way)

If it's a .net addy or something else like .gov, etc - then just type it as such myemail/vsu/net

Let me know what you think. emoSmile

Why don't you just click on the email link at the bottom of your post and it will automatically start an email up with that persons email address.

Great idea... click on email tab under post.

Bad thing is - Not everyone has thier email made public on thier profile. emoBang

So the only thing you can send to them is a PM. emoMad

Not making fun of ya or trying to make you mad.

What's wrong with a PM? Most people have their email posted and if they don't, then there probably is a reason. Just send them a PM and I am sure they will get back with you.

Guys... to clear the air, this original post almost a year ago had NOTHING to do with First Light. This was generated after receiving a tip from Spurhunter. Please don't turn this thread into somehting its not.
