Hello all, I'm considering moving out to the Chattanooga area for work next year and I'd like to know what the fishing is like over there. I'm in the Dallas area right now so I'm used to lakes like Fork. What's Chickamauga like? Deep or shallow, clear or murky, what types of techniques are the most common?

Also what are the other local lakes (within 2 hrs) and what are they like?

Thanks, hopefully I'll be joining the community soon!

Chickamauga has about anything you need bass fishing wise. Deeper structure, shallow cover ( grass/wood,ect..) . It's an awesome lake ! Within 2 hours you have Guntersville, Nickajack ,Dale Hollow ( little bit further). For trophy spotted bass you have Carters Lake in Georgia and Parksville Lake. Chattanooga is blessed to have a ton of fantastic lakes to chose from within a 2 hour drive. Chickamauga is one of the hottest lakes in the country right now.</p>

UTSWV12- You are leaving some awesome lakes and coming to even more awesome lakes. The Chick and Guntersville are in my opinion some of the best in the country for quality largemouth. I mean last week it took atleast 30 pound bags 5 fish to get in the top 5, and 38 pounds to win. Yea its pretty awesome!!!!!!

Chickamauga lake is part of the Tennessee river system created for hydro electric power and flood control and is a very healthy lake right now with 5 to 7 lb bass becoming normal for alot of anglers. A local tournament this past weekend had 17 bass over 8lbs brought to the scales . It has a variety of depths and water as deep as 80 to 100 ft in some areas of the river and so shallow that you can get stuck on bottom if your not familiar with the river. The winners in the tourney this weekend had 5 bass that weighed 37.98 lbs.

Forget everything you know from there, the lake levels change here a lot and fishing currents are different. The fish seem to move more. The chick is the best lake I have been on here. I just got back from my lake house on Toledo bend and killed the fish. I got back here to a reality check. I just have not fished here enough to pattern the fish. But the chick has lots of grass and will make you feel at home.

Thank you so much for your replies everyone. Looks like I've got a lot of learning to do with this new type of lake, but I'm looking forward to it!
