I have no idea but good lands if it's for real he has a new world record. I've always heard Kentucky lake is an awesome crappie lake

I don't know if it's true or not but look carefully at that picture. Look at the guys elbows holding the fish.

Do you think he's holding the fish close to the camera making it look bigger ??

Anyone know the weight of the world record Crappie ?

I did a quick search but came up empty handed.

The Current record White Crappie is 5-3.

The current record Black Crappie is 4-8 .

Maybe that's changed.

Called my Dad that lives 15 miles from Kentucky Lake and he said he had not heard anything about a crappie that big being caught there in the past few weeks. I grew up fishing both Kentucky and Barkley lakes from the time i could hold a pole. The biggest crappie i ever saw was a 2 LB 15 oz white crappie that was 17 inches long when i was about 6 years old. My grandfather caught it on a minnow fishing a brushpile, when i was in my early twenties we caught a bunch of 2-2 1/2 lb crappie every spring. I know there are some really big crappie in both these lakes but a 6 lb crappie would have made the local news for sure. The crappie in the picture is for sure a big crappie but i do not think it is 6 lb. It maybe a 3 pluse lbs for sure. If I get any news about this from home I will post it.

My dad caught a black crappie at Weese Lake that weiched 3 lbs. 14 oz. after we drug it around all day. He thought I cleaned it, but I got it mounted. I need to take a picture of it. Its pretty impressive.

Got a picture from a trusted friend today of a 3lb crappie that his brother caught in VA last Saturday. It i 16.5 inches long with a girth of 14.25 inches. I printed off both pictures and put them side by side and the picture of the potential record 6 lb looked to be the same size as my buddies 3 lb. I would say this is a scam on the 6 lb. I have been crappie fising for over 35 years and have caught over a thousand crappie in this time and my personal best is a 2 lb 11 oz from Lake barkley back in the late 90s. Still looking for the 3 lb crappie myself maybe this year.
