Well we hit the property Saturday morning. There were deer busting everyhere as I eased down the mountain. Got to my stand and didn't see a hair. About 10am. I got down and decided to take the long way back to camp. Saw a lot of deer including one mature buck that never gave me an opportunity. Finally I made it back to camp and was pulling my sweaty camos off. I heard something in the leaves next to camp, figured it was Jarred comming back. After a second I realized it was something else, so I grabbed my gun and eased over around the table. There were turkeys everywhere! They saw me and began running and flying as I was looking for Gobblers in the bunch. I looked back down the hill and there was a lone mature doe starring at me. Kaboom and my T/C Omega was christened! The shot was straight down 80 yards, the deer was quartering to. The rest of the gang came up Saturday and we had a great trip with great weather. Everyone saw deer, but we dont shoot small bucks so mine was the only harvest this weekend.
There is a ton of fresh scrapes and rubs, and a lot of traveling sign everywhere. Several of the others saw small bucks pushing does, so things are about to get going I think. Most of the deer movement over the weekend was between 8:30-11:00am.
FYI-If anyone uses Bo's processing in Tunnel Hill. His cooler is full and he will not be taking deer again until tuesday. In other words, I had to process my doe last night under the deck...I haven't lost my touch with a knife!
