I now offer a 10' or 20' extension cable I made up to hook your Humminbird units straight to the battery. It is Ancor Safety Duplex Cable - 14/2 gauge wire with an inline fuse holder and a 3 amp fuse. It also has the battery loops on the end to connect to your battery.

The power wire for Humminbird is only 6' and will not reach to the battery in many cases. Most will wire into a dash switch or fuse panel. This will sometimes cause a low voltage issue and create problems with your unit. I recommend wiring your unit direct to the battery to eliminate the chance for a low voltage issue down the road. This cable will assist you and save you some steps during your installation.

Safety Duplex Cable

ANCOR Duplex Cable is made to surpass the highest UL Boat Cable standards with ultra flexible (Type 3/Class K) stranding to resist fatigue due to vibration and flexing.
Outer jacket is made for easy removal and provides the best abrasion resistance available
ANCORs proprietary premium vinyl insulation stays flexible even in extreme cold and resists salt water, battery acid, oil, gasoline and ultra-violet radiation. Exclusive insulation is rated at 600 volts, 105°C dry and 75°C wet, and is resistant to heat and abrasion.
Inner conductors are correctly color-coded to ABYC standards
Features red and yellow Marine Grade™ primary conductors in white common jacket
This will also help reduce/eliminate any other electrical interference.

Do you think this may help me cure a problem I'm having with my HB 597 hd di?
My transducer is mounted on the bottom of my MG Maxxum motor (like most are). When I step on the pedal my screen goes nuts, reading all kinds of depths and false screen displays.
As soon as I let off-all is ok. Tried messing with my sensitvity and that didn't help.

Hey Ron,

Or you are creating a lot of turbulent water right around your transducer, that will also make one go nuts. Make sure the transducer is located enough forward on the motor foot not to recive turbulence. Second I would make sure your unit is not wired into the same circuit as your trolling motor.

Thanks Johnny-but it's pretty much at the hit of the switch (before the boat even moves) And I talked to a MG tech guy that asked me the same question about the connection (which makes you look really smart!)
So, I checked that and it's wired into my front panel that is on my cranking battery.

Power Supply is one of the most critical issues to a properly operating unit. This will help you make sure you are getting both proper Current and Voltage to the unit it takes both. And with the Premium Components will give you years of trouble free service. Great idea David!

You are getting Radio Frequency/Electricial Noise from your Trolling Motor. I would call HB Customer Service to help get started. 800-633-1468 they have steps to help you.
