i have a 94 mercury 150XR6. last night my daughter came in my room and said she heard something like a cordless screw driver running outside.so this morning i went out back and my motor was trimmed up all the way and my battery was dead. i have trim switches on the front on the motor and on the steering wheel. i didnt have time to check it out before i left. does anyone know what might have happened to it?

Probably got some water in one of the switches and caused a short. Most likely, it's the switch on the bow. Try disconnecting that one. Then charge up your battery and test for trim at the other switches. Hopefully, the battery went dead before the trim motor burned itself out. Good luck!

that very well could be what happened, i left the boat out in the storms last night and it got soaked, i had planned on going fishing until i found this

i had this to happen to me last week we had a bad storm and when i got home i heard the motor humming and it was one of the switchs i unplugged the battery cabbles untill the boat dried and i havent had a problem since

i bet thats what the problem is,i hooked the charger up to it and at first it would only go up,but then it went down so i left it down unhooked the battery and letting it charge, i will check each switch saturday and see which one has the problem and fix it..thanks for all the help guys.
