Over the last few days, I have seen some interesting explanations of how these polls are taken. Every last one, with the possible exception of Rasmussen, is weighted by up to 13% more democrats than Republicans. Then, the group called "young voters" is said to refuse to answer their phone or otherwise participate in large enough numbers for the sampling to be valid. In this case, this group is always weighted at 13% because that is the rate at which they voted in 08. In the same breath, the commentator said the young voters are far less enthused this time than in 08.
Then, after these comments, the commentator said the CBS poll had the bomma up by 7 points. As the weighting came down in the other polls (6 of them), the bomma's lead fell accordingly. Finally, he said Rasmussen had the race dead even.
Does this guy think the American public is stupid? Perhaps, but I suspect his goal is to discourage the anti-bomma vote enough so they will stay home and not vote. Guys, don't fall for it. Vote twice or more just like they do.
