HAVE 20FT. BULLET 225 EVINRUDE AT 65MPH THE MOTOR IS TURNING 6000 AM THINKING I MIGHT NEED TO TRY ANOTHER PROP, GETS OUT OF THE HOLE REAL GOOD HAVE RENEGADE 4 BLADED 27 PITCH ON IT NOW ANY SUGGESTION emoScratch

Rudy,
Did you go to the lake??? I told you I have siome merc props modified to fit omc if you want to try. How did it come out of the hole with the ring off of it?

I`m running the same set-up on my`94 20`Bullet `97 Johnson 225 ......stock out of the box Renegade 27 -4b ...and mine gps 73-74 with Tx load. My tach acts wacky a lot but when it seems to be reading right its about 6000 .Runs about 77 solo and dry well at 6300 but is overtrimmed and is on the edge of squirrely . Great hole shot ...not much more than the length of the boat when you tickle the trim just right....and it`s kind of cool. I`m trying to keep the `97 Johnson together though so rarely ever run it that hard anymore.
Are you checking with GPS? have the 10" Rapid Jack ? how high ? what style of `Rude....carb , ficht ???I tried a 29 one time and don`t even remember what kind it was but didn`t want to come out of the hole too good ...didn`t bother fooling with it....didn`t have much time.
You might be able to run that 29 that BS is talking about and you might get that 27 to work better with enough jack playing and what not ....you never know till you try.
Keep us posted on how it goes. I would think it should do better with the 27 than 65 though. Might check the tach for accuracy too !!
Good luck !

Rudy,
Will have to go out with you and use a special tool to verify RPM's. The information you posted show to be 24% slip and at 75 with the same RPM shows 13% slip, which is still high especially for a 4 blade. Most performance boats should run 8-10% on average. I had mine to 6%. May have JP too high and causing the slip. That prop should want to be buried, but the chopper I have will want to be piercing the surface. When it gets warm we will go check everything out, try some of my props, and get it dialed in for ya. But the way, Andy (MoonManNBirchwood) came over today. His lower has issues. I installed the crank in his engine for him. Really nice guy. Said nothing but good about you!!!

With a 225 a 20' Bullet should easily run over 80. Evinrudes and Johnsons have 1.86:1 gears as opposed to 1.75 or 1.62:1 gears for Mercs. A 29 on 1.86 gears is the same as a 27 on 1.75 gears or a 25 on 1.62 gears. I run a 26 Pro et on my BS pro at 5800 rpms with 1.62's. Mine has 250XS. Speed is 87-89. My slip calculates out to less than 6% with every prop I have ever ran. Also, Renegade props have been known to vary quite a bit from prop to prop.

I'VE RUN MY BULLET 74 SOLO BY GPS BUT DID'NT CHECK RPM'S TO BUSY DRIVING I JUST THINK ITS TURNING MORE RPM'S THAN IT SHOULD I'LL GET WRENCHING2 TO HELP ME DIAL IT IN THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP GIVES ME SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT emoScratch LIKE I NEED SOMETHING ELSE TO TO THINK ABOUT THANKS RUDY

WHEN IT WARMS UP!!!!!!! LOL. Have set up many boats and beetlespin has confirmed the slip should be single digits on that paticular boat. Will just have to dial it in. Later!!!
